March is Texas History Month. March 2 is Texas Independence Day. The Seguin Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas (DRT) is inviting the community to participate in the 38th annual Toast to Texas. We are asking all the community to wave their Texas Flags high during the month of March honoring Texas History.
We would also like to welcome you to attend the festivities at Central Park to celebrate and toast 188 years since the signing of the Texas Declaration of Independence.
If you can't make it down, don't worry, please tune in to KWED 1580 AM, seguintoday.com at 1:30 to listen to the program.
Central Park will have many different activities for lil' Texans and adults alike, the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Mounted Posse, Master Naturalists and 4-H Shooting Sports with Teatro De Artes De Juan Seguin Mariachi Juan Seguin & Ballet Folklórico De La Rosa performing. Also other local businesses, food trucks, clubs, artists, musicians, dignitaries, and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Abishai Mercer Dickson - Seguin Chapter to toast the Great Republic of Texas in Seguins Central Park.
We also ask area churches to participate by ringing their bells for 1 min at 2 o'clock.
This is the 38th year of the Toast to Texas Celebration but the first in Central Park with other activities.
Hosted by the City of Seguin and the Seguin Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas.

On March 2, 1836 the Texas Declaration of Independence was voted unanimously and signed at Washington-on-the-Brazos by 59 Anglo and Tejano Delegates representing the people of Texas.
In 1915, the Texas legislature declared March 2nd as Texas Independence Day.
