Celebrating 19 years
-
- The specific purpose of the SAYLA is to provide high school students who are entering the 11th grade or 12th grade residing in Guadalupe County, Texas with a theoretical and operational foundation in the essential skills, beliefs, and practices of leadership to prepare the students to make a positive impact on the quality of life in their community.
- The objectives of the SAYLA are to identify students who have demonstrated leadership qualities or displayed a potential toward leadership to participate as a group representing a diverse group of students including gender, ethnicity, and geographic areas. The students selected will be presented with in-depth programs to acquaint them with community needs, opportunities, challenges, and resources, and to encourage interaction with community leaders, as well as being given the opportunity to foster opportunities for teamwork and collaborative problem-solving.
- Students must be willing to commit to attending all activities and have all required signatures of permission. They must have passed every course in the last semester prior to the application deadline.
- The estimated value of the program tuition is $500. Thanks to the generosity of community sponsors, students will attend the program for $25 (non-refundable).

Congratulations SAYLA Class of 2024
-
SAYLA Class of 2024 took on a meaningful community service project at the local Veterans Park located at 312 S. Erkel St. The group fundraised and dedicated their time and energy to beautifying the park, ensuring it remains a place of honor and reflection for our community. From pressure washing the fence and repainting it to adding a new sidewalk making it accessible for those guests in wheelchairs. We are incredibly proud of their hard work and commitment.
