Dottsy will be joined by her special guest Lanette Pennell as well as former band members Clark Grein, Howard and Marianne Hudiburg and Kaye Tolson. The Heart of Texas Band will play and Tracy Pitcox will MC the show.
Former RCA recording artist Dottsy will be the featured entertainer for the October show. Dottsy began singing in public at the age of ten. She began to play the guitar and work often work with bands around Seguin. Dottsy met Happy Shahan in 1972. At that time, he was managing Johnny Rodriguez. Shahan took her to Nashville and began pitching the young singer to various record labels.
“We picked five songs after listening to 500,” Dottsy recalls. “RCA record executive Roy Dea put the songs on and turned around and looked at me. He offered me a recording contract that very day.”
That association would produce four top ten singles including “Storms Never Last,” “After Sweet Memories, Play Born To Loose Again,” “I’ll Be Your San Antonio Rose,” and “Trying To Satisfy You.” Legendary country music artist Waylon Jennings joined Dottsy on the song “Tryin To Satisfy You.”
Dottsy began opening for some of country music’s biggest artists including Johnny Rodriguez, Tammy Wynette, Asleep At The Wheel, Ronnie Milsap, Charlie Pride, Cal Smith and Don Gibson. She toured extensively across the United States, Scotland, Holland, England and Canada.
Dottsy was also featured on television programs such as “Hee Haw” “Pop Goes The Country” “That Nashville Music” “Bill Mack Show” and even made three appearances on the Grand Ole Opry.
In 1981, she signed with Tanglewood and released three more singles. Dottsy then decided to leave the music business and concentrate on working with autistic and mentally challenged children.
She was inducted as a member of the Country Music Association of Texas Hall of Fame in 1998.
Dottsy joined Heart of Texas Records and released her first album in over a decade. “Meet Me In Texas” contained some of Dottsy’s re recorded older hits as well as some new songs. That project was followed with her latest album “Texas Sensation” that has received rave reviews.
Lanette Pennell played with Dottsy’s band Two Way Street in the 1970’s and was the leader of the Almost Patsy Cline Band for twenty three years. She was the Female Vocalist of the Year in San Antonio in 1994 and was on the preferred roster of the Texas Commission of the Arts for eight years.
“This will be such a great show,” MC Tracy Pitcox said. “Dottsy has invited some of her past band members and friends join her for two hours of incredible music and memories.”Images
